Note: These guides only address choices which affect the achievement they are relevant to. They will not warn you of all situations between the beginning of the game and earning the achievement, and it is possible for Elodie to die while still meeting all requirements listed here.
Week 9: Decide to enter negotiations for a peaceful solution.
Week 10: (Foreign Affairs ≥ 20 and Internal Affairs < 40) Offer to punish the Duchess by commanding her to marry an Ixionite. Low internal affairs is necessary to avoid appeasing her. -OR- Surrender the province. This is to trigger a vote of no confidence, which must be lost. Avoiding training Royal Demeanor or Conversation to facilitate this.
Week 17: If Banion's sister was married off, he will offer you a dance as a means to manipulate you into marrying him. Give in, and your engagement to Talarist will be broken. -OR- If you instead surrendered when Banion requested aid, he will call a vote of no confidence and attempt to instate himself as your husband and regent. If you lose the vote he will be successful and your engagement to Talarist will be broken.
Week 2: Allow Julianna to stay and become your mentor, and speak with her on the weekend. -OR- Send her away or have her arrested, and wait until Week 6 for another opportunity.
Week 6: If Julianna is in the dungeons, Selene will ask you to free her. Accept to have Julianna become your mentor. If Julianna was sent away, you can accept Selene as your mentor instead.
Week 7: If Julianna is still in the dungeons you will be given one last chance to release her. Despite what the text implies, she will remain with you if released and become your mentor.
As soon as you have accepted either woman as your mentor you may speak to her on a weekend and agree to become a Lumen. Speak to your father on a following weekend and then finally return to your mentor. This does not need to be done on a specific week.
(Presence ≥ 70 or Accounting ≥ 60) Enter the treasury and retrieve your Lumen crystal. -OR- Wait until Week 16 and speak to your mentor. Permit them to use their own methods of getting the crystal to avoid all skill requirements.
Speak to your mentor on the following weekend, and accept your crystal.
Week 17: (Public Speaking + Presence < 100) Banion should provoke you. Unsuccessfully order his execution, and he will call for a vote of no confidence against you. The outcome of the vote will not affect this achievement.
This achievement requires poor enough noble opinion to spark a civil war. Avoid taking classes in Royal Demeanor or Conversation to increase the liklihood of angering the other nobles. For specifics on decreasing favor, see Faced a civil war?
Week 18: [Optional] (Intrigue ≥ 40) Tell your father you are worried about assassination attempts, and have more guards hired to compensate.
Week 28: If you have extra guards from Week 18, or if Lucille is your Lumen minister or is dead, you will reach the party safely. Otherwise you must pass some higher skill checks to survive the journey: (Archery + Reflexes ≥ 100) or (Medicine ≥ 70 and Composure ≥ 50) or (Medicine ≥ 70 and Meditation ≥ 50) to make it there safely.
Week 28: If you have extra guards from Week 18, or if Lucille is your Lumen minister or is dead, you will reach the party safely. Otherwise you must pass some higher skill checks to survive the journey: (Archery + Reflexes ≥ 100) or (Medicine ≥ 70 and Composure ≥ 50) or (Medicine ≥ 70 and Meditation ≥ 50).
In order to be forced into marriage you must have a low enough noble approval rating to lose the vote of no confidence at the Grand Ball. Avoid taking classes in Royal Demeanor or Conversation to increase the likelihood of angering the other nobles. For specifics on decreasing favor, see the options listed in Faced a civil war? which occur before Week 17.
Week 9: If given the choice, opt to attempt negotiations with the Ixionites. This choice will be automatically selected for you if you have not trained any military skills at all.
Week 17: (Public Speaking + Presence < 100) Banion should provoke you. Unsuccessfully order his execution, and he will call for a vote of no confidence against you. If your approval was low enough the nobles will side against you and you will be forced to marry Banion.
Alternatively, when you face the civil war at Week 30, Suggest compromise.(Public Speaking ≥ 70) you will be forced to marry the youngest son of Arisse.
The approval rating of the Novan nobles must be sufficiently low by Week 29 to cause Arisse to begin a civil war against you. There are no specific events which will cause the war to begin, so it's important to act in ways that generally disrespect the nobility to keep your approval low. Avoid taking classes in Royal Demeanor or Conversation. The following is an incomplete list of actions that will anger the nobility.
Week 9: (Court Manners ≥ 10) If you are wearing the gift from Talarist you received during Week 5, you can confirm Banion's suspicions that you are engaged which will displease him. You do not need to actually accept when Talarist visits.
Week 10: When the delegation from Ixion arrives, surrender the province to them or (Foreign Affairs ≥ 20) punish Brin for her past actions. This will anger Banion.
Note: Since you have likely angered Banion during Week 10 you can expect him to challenge you during Week 17 at the ball. Since you are working on a poor noble approval rating, it is important to avoid him calling a vote of no confidence since you are unlikely to win it. You can (Composure ≥ 20) ignore his jibe or (Swords ≥ 70 and Athletics ≥ 40) defeat him in a duel. If you executed Brin and faced an assassination attempt the week before you may also (Ciphering ≥ 60) accuse him of attempting to kill you.
Week 24: If you had the option to order your agents to be on the look out for noble plots in Week 18 and chose to do so, they will have word for you of a potential civil war brewing. Sending assassins to deal with it will avoid the civil war entirely, so if you have this event be sure to deal with it another way.
If either Briony or Arisse are dead for whatever reason by Week 33, Kevan of Io will challenge you to a duel after the tournaments are over. In order for this to occur, you must have participated in one of the events of the tournament. You will not be presented with the duel challenge if you select "None" when prompted to choose an event. You do not have to win the duel, nor do you have to accept the challenge in order to receive the achievement.
Order the death of anyone in the game. However, the player will receive cruelty points if they take this course of action. Possible options are as follows:
On Week 7, if Julianna is still in the dungeon, you may visit her on the weekend and you may order her execution. This, however, will result in a death, as Julianna will strangle you with magical chains if you try to do so.
On Week 10, if you meet with the diplomat from Ixion and pass the Foreign Affairs ≥ 20 check, you will unlock the option to "Offer to Punish the Duchess of Hellas". When asked what you will do to her, choose "Execute her". Her brother, however, will be furious with you and will try to ruin you from then on.
On Week 13, you will be asked to stand in judgment of an attempted murderess. When prompted to do so, order her execution. No special checks or choices prior to this will bar you from being able to make this choice.
On Week 17, if Banion is angry with you he will provoke you. You may then order his execution. If you fail the checks required, he will call for a vote of confidence. However, if you executed his sister on Week 10, survived the assassination attempt on Week 16 and successfully passed the Ciphering ≥ 60 check, you can safely accuse him of sending assassins and execute him without the vote of confidence. If you used magic on Week 10, survived the assassination attempt on Week 16, passed the Ciphering check AND passed the Court Manners check, you will consider your next move. Select "Accuse Him" and you will be tested on Court Manners again (if you passed the first one, you will pass the second one). Passing it will allow you to consider your options. You will then receive the option to execute him again.
On Week 20, you will be called to stand in judgment of a man who killed his wife. When prompted to make a decision, select "Execute him". No special checks are needed to unlock this option.
On Week 26, there is the possibility that Adair will have been assassinated. You may choose to blame the Earl of Ishtar and execute him. This is only possible if you sent Adair to live with his grandfather on Week 22.
On Week 36, if you won the naval battle, you may have prisoners. You can choose to "Ransom the rich, execute the poor" or "Execute them all!" This is only available if you won the naval battle, but it doesn't matter how you win.
On Week 37, you may have a whole BUNCH of opportunities to achieve the execution badge! If you hired Sabine as a spy and you sent her to investigate the poisoned chocolates, you are given information after the confrontation with Togami. There are several ways of handling this. First, if your father is dead and your main emotion is NOT depression (somehow), you can choose "Execute them all". Second, if your father is NOT dead, choose "Decide Lucille is Guilty" and from there, decide who dies! Or, if your father is NOT dead and you have the option to choose "Ask About Charlotte's powers" to determine if the spy is lying, do this and afterwards, decide who dies! Lastly, if you decide the spy is lying, you can execute her too!
You have to cause the nobles to hate you (not passing any test at the ball, executing nobles, rising taxes). Have Intrigue > 40 on week 18 and your father will ask what you want your agents to focus on, choose noble plots. On week 22, don't marry Adair. On week 24 your agents will tell you there is a noble plotting against you, choose to send assassins to kill the person.
1) Avoid war beforehand at all costs to spare as much soldiers as possible. The easier method for the Ixion threat is to wear Talarist's necklace and Bluff/Intimidate the Ixion Diplomat in Week 10 and then "Threaten to attack" (Will succeed with Presence > 60). You can also choose to give up the Province and have Court Manners ≥ 60 by Week 35 to successfully request aid. To avoid civil war, do things that please nobles like refusing to raise taxes and siding with the nobles during conflicts.
2) To have enough ships, either ask your father to hire agents overseeing foreign threats (requires high Intrigue, around week 18 or 24); or have high Logistics and Trade by week 25 to have a warning about the threat before hand; or surrender the province to Ixion in week 10 and have high Court Manners to request their aid.
3) Rank high in all Military skills, especially Naval Strategy; Climbing and Wield Magic gives you a higher chance as well.
4) When offered a chance to recruit soldiers (tournament, prisoners, falling star omen, allies) or build ships, always say yes.
5) Do not use the concert method with other Lumens.
Have very high cruelty by always doing aggressive actions (killing people, killing animals via Hunting while angry), lose the naval battle, then offer an alliance with Togami (then kill your father).
To have that option at the time of Togami duel there are three choices (all are related to the need to know that you may lend the lumen power to someone and the ability to do that):
Have a spare lumen crystal on hand which you've discussed with your mentor.
Be a lumen and have Lore ≥ 90.
Arrive at that point after failed attempt to sink the fleet with magic. Really hard to do that: first you must survive the attempt and not die, then your fleet must still fail to stop the invasion. Most likely could only happen after a civil war.
Lose the naval battle during Week 35, then have high enough Foreign Intelligence (≥ 90) to know Togami's history as well as Voice ≥ 50 to get the option to sing. You will also need Presence ≥ 70 and Public Speaking ≥ 70.
You must have at least three Lumens available in the castle, and your own Lumen skills must be quite high.
Choose to direct the fleet yourself at week 34 and, if you have at least three Lumens counting elodie, you can combine your powers to destroy the fleet.
Be sure to have Wield Magic at 100 before doing this or your own ship will be caught in the destruction and you will drown.
On the week 2, lock up Julianna. Refuse when the priestess ask you to free her. Then Ignatius will come to visit you, choose to give him the title and DO NOT free Juliana. Go to Gwenelle's birthday party, make sure you have enough training in archery and agility to avoid being killed on the road there, have high lore, and agree to help Briony. When she comes to your place on the second week, you must have a high enough conversation level to ask her about her parents. If you do this, later on she will send you a letter saying that her parents are getting divorced.
During the negotiation with the Ixionites, give them your territory. Later on during war with Shanjia, you can ask the Ixionites to help you because they owe you a favor. Make sure you have high enough skills in Court Manners otherwise the Ixionites will refuse to help you.
Have Intrigue ≥ 40 in Week 18, have your agents focus on commoner uprisings and get commoner approval as low as possible. When your agents inform you of a commoner uprising, have Herbs ≥ 1 to unlock "Heal the Sick". You must have Herbs ≥ 80 and Divination ≥ 30 for the cats to appear. Herbs + Battlefield Medicine ≥ 60 or Elegance ≥ 50 or Decoration ≥ 50 will be partial successes, but will not unlock this achievement.
- Allow Julianna to stay and begin the magic subplot as soon as possible (note: it is not necessary to get the crystal, but you will have to talk to her at least once).
-Do not accept Talarist's proposal, and have enough Intrigue and Court Manners to decline Banion's offer of dance in the ball.
- Week 6 (Climb > 20) When you have the opportunity to climb and sneak a peek at the garden, take it.
- Week 14 (Court Manner check >50) Meet him and expose him, and let him go.
- Week 27 Don't agree to go to the party.
- Week 28 Sneak out of the palace to meet him, and accept the cookie he offers. If you pass the Poison 70 check, you can make him eat one first, which affects the possible endings. Either way, he will become an available marriage option in the list of suitors.
To get a successful epilogue, you must either ''not'' make him eat the cookie and have a stable Nova with high approval, or ''do'' make him eat the cookie and have low noble approval ratings, in which case Elodie hires him as her food tester.
Low noble approval will give one set of text (and the romance) while high approval will give a different text.
Alternatively, to romance Alice, who will count as a commoner, commit cruel acts (execute people, blast people with magic, force Alice to take your gifts, dance with Alice on week 17, go hunting on the weekends when angry (+1 cruelty) or afraid (+.5 cruelty). When you have the option to choose who you will marry, don't choose anyone. Alice will be mentioned in the Epilogue.
Week 17: (Sense Magic = 100 and Resist Magic ≥ 80) Speak to Lucille and accuse her of being more powerful than she's letting on. You will get the achievement one week later, when someone is killed by a creeping shade.
The uprising happens in Week 39 if your commoner approval is very low. Be mean and horrible to commoners a lot and don't do anything to appease them. Don't have your agents looking out for commoner unrest. Don't throw a coronation banquet.
There are two ways of doing that. Both cases lead to the same event, they just require different skills to reach the same state.
Know Aunt Lucille's secret, and preferably kill her at the ball.
Make sure your cruelty is high. Yell at servants, execute people whenever possible, hunt while having Angry ≥ 1, and destroy rivals with magic when challenged to duels to increase cruelty.
Failed coup d'état investigation.
If you receive the poisoned chocolated and live till the next day then Elodie will employ your spy (if you have her) to investigate. She'll go away and will return just in time for the next part.
Have enough Lumen to destroy the fleet with magic. You must be a Lumen yourself, you must know about the existence of at least two other Lumen, and you must be able to pull off the destruction without dying.
After this, your father will inform you that a kraken has appeared. You can choose to seal it or sacrifice yourself. if you know that Lucille is a lumen from encounter at gala and your cruelty is high enough (Cruelty ≥ 10) OR if you know that Lucille is not just a lumen but that she was plotting your demise (there are not cruelty check in that case) then you realise that Charlotte is an alternative and will have the option to sacrifice Charlotte instead.
You'll only surve the attempt if Lucille is dead (killed by you or by your agents).
Week 6: Refuse to have Julianna released when prompted by Selene.
Week 7: Give Julianna's title to Ignatius to avoid having to release her.
Week 10: Deal with the Ixion invasion without offering to punish Brin.
Week 18: (Intrigue ≥ 40 and Internal Affairs ≥ 40) Tell your father you are worried about Julianna and that she must be put to death. When asked how to go about this, send them to speak with Brin and Banion.
Week 20: Order the execution of the man who killed his wife.
Week 21-Week 33: Visit your father on the weekend about your fear of Lumens. You may need to visit him multiple times if you have other conversations queued up, but at some point you will specifically talk about defending yourself from Lumens.
Discover your aunt is trying to assassinate you. You can do that by hiring Sabine as your spy in Week 23 (Have Instrument + Voice > 50, as well as Intrigue > 20 to unlock the option to "Test her for Secret Skills" and select it). Decide your aunt is guilty and "execute the entire family". If you don't die, you will get the achievement in the ending.
Week 36: Pass the Composure < 40 check. Refuse outright. Meet with your advisors for the weekend activity (this will be your only option) and go with Selene into the forest. Pass a Meditation = 70 check. Pass a Lumen + Meditation = 400 check.
Lastly you need some other way to pass the check in Week 32 so you don't automatically eat the chocolates and are suspicious enough of them to consider poison. Test Production + Trade ≥ 60 OR Court Manners ≥ 80 to unlock options "Save it for later" and Intrigue ≥ 100 to unlock "Test for Poison."
If your cruelty is high enough you will consider first using Alice, but then ultimately decide to force-feed a chicken.
You must become a Lumen as soon as possible. The only way to pass the check in week 10 needed for this achievement is be a Lumen already and have Presence and Wield Magic high enough. Therefore, you must plan your moods and classes carefully to rapidly level either Presence or Accounting and get into the treasury.
Week 10: Select Bluff/Intimidate. Pass a check Presence + Wield Magic ≥ 70 to open up the option of scaring the opposing side with a show of magical force. Select that option.
Week 16: Choose either Lead the Parade or Make a Speech and Lead the Parade. So long as you go outside. An assassin will attack after the event. See Week 16 for details on how to survive the attack.
Week 17: Have Ciphering > 60 to read the coded note. If it is not from Merva then you have done something wrong and need to go back. When prompted, chose to imprison your Uncle. You should get the achievement either right then, or if you go to visit him in the dungeon.
It is also possible to reach this outcome by another method. For this outcome, you must keep your Ciphering skill low but boost your Internal Affairs skill.
The advisor you're looking to get is Arisse, Duchess of Lillah. To do this, your Noble Approval needs to be very low, so do everything you can to lower it. You can print out the stat in the Debug/Cheat Codes to check it.
